In 1947, the Ministers of Coal of the USSR launched an initiative to celebrate National Miner's Day and issued an appropriate decree. Festive events in honour of mining workers first took place in the Soviet Union on 29 August 1948. Since then, even following the collapse of the Soviet Union, miners have celebrated their professional holiday.

1947年，苏联煤炭部长发起了庆祝全国矿工节的倡议，并颁布了相应的法令。 1948 年 8 月 29 日，苏联首次举办了纪念采矿工人的节日活动。从那时起，即使在苏联解体后，矿工们仍然庆祝他们的职业假期。
