Let's make an analogy with cooking: any product can be consumed raw, but skilful processing will make it much more delicious. The same is true for images. A “raw” image is not an end product, but an original one, a starting point for getting a complete work. Hence, it's important not just to use the camera, but to “develop” the obtained material.
